Another foggy Halifax day

More fog....I'm getting pretty used to it now. I don't like it, but I'm now used to it!! They say the sun is going to come out this afternoon, so fingers crossed!!

What did you think about the Fred Macgillivary interview today? AJ thought more people should have called and challenged him, but what I heard on the Hotline with Rick is that more people think Events Halifax should be responsible to the city and not the province and I think even Fred agreed with that. I don't think a lot of people have problems with Fred, he's a great guy, and has done a lot for the city. I think even Bruce D. would agree with that! It's more of the bureaucratic red tape people have the problem with and not the actual personalities.

Did you take in any of the tall ships on the weekend? I saw a few when I was walking to the Cunard Centre for the White Stripes show on Friday night. There was a letter to the editor today in one of the papers (I forget) about the conditions in the Cunard Centre. I have to agree. Although the band was incredible, it got kind of boring when I couldn't see what was happening on stage. I'm quite short, but the person who wrote the letter in was 6'1 and he says he had a hard time seeing! Let me tell you about the heat. I love heat. I crave heat. It's been well-documented in this blog that I love hot weather and that it's not hot enough in Halifax. That being said - I'm suprised more people didn't get heat stroke in that building. There was no air flowing in the venue and it was insanely hot. Uncomfortablyhot. It's like the heat was on in there. That really did take away from the concert-going experience. Luckily, the band was so good, I could overlook these flaws, but I understand how some people couldn't!

Caller Sandy sounded so happy to report that her son will be back on Canadian soil July 30th from Afghanistan! That would be interesting to have him on the show. I think she said he would be in N.S. in the middle of August, so I'll have to mention that to Yvonne Colbert, who is doing the show after AJ finishes the first week of August.

I just want to give a shout out to Will, who calls me most days and says something that always cracks me up. Thanks Will!

Have a great day...hope for some sunshine!

Cheers,

Amber

Hellooooo Amber..
Good to hear the show again this am....first time in weeks.....busy with house repairs....what started out as an easy project now has developed into something a little more complicated....so whenever the sun is out ,so am I....I am the maintenance man around here...

It was also good to get on the show this am and express myself with regards to politicans in Halifax...

We are still fighting with the Rodney MacDonald gov't over t he strip mining that is taking place in Pt Aconi, Boularderie Island.

The Rev. Mark Parent was in Pt Aconi on July3rd or 4th giving a pep talk to the employees of Emera(NSP)in Pt Aconi about their safety record.

Must be a good feeling to be employed, accident free, with the largest polluter in the country.

A number of concerned citizens, against strip mining, waited over 3 hrs. for Rev. Parent to come out. We blocked the driveway, so he had to get out of Alfie MacLeods car..also in the car was Beneidict Pete's sister, whats her name , assitendent to the Rev.
She had her face in a knot and just as bitchy as she looked. She must be a real snot.
Parent pretended to be intyerested but he was caught in a couple of lies.
He would not accept my invitation to go down the road about 250 ft to look at what Pioneer Coal is doing...just 250ft and yet he had to drive right past it to leave the island....

I now refer to him as a lying hypocrite....
Alfie MacLeod, MLA for one of the ares on CB that is also going to be strip mined stood there and said nothing and yet before and during the election he said puplicly he is against strip mining...when a couple of us mentioned that to him as well we asked him why it is that neither him or Keith Bain ,MLA Victoria -the Lakes, has brought the strip mining concerns up in the house, he said he did....when in fact neither of the 2 have brought it up in the house. He said he has brought it up in cacaus , to which we informed him the cacaus is not listening to him.

At that point little missy whats -her- name was trying to get her MLAs out of there.
And with a police escort ,paid for by CBRM taxpayers like the seniors protesting that day, another minister of the province gets away. Having said nothing but lies while there.

That day he got to see The Good..The Bad and the Ugly from the concerned citizens present.

Thank God these people don't mind speaking up for their rights, because our MLAs sure won't.

Have a good one
Richard
