Summer Hotline

So...if you tuned in at 10am today to listen to the show, you tuned in halfway!

The Summer Hotline hours are from 9-11 for the next few weeks. This is Rick's last week before his holiday...next week AJ takes over.

That was really interesting to hear what stores continue to sell banned pesticides/herbicides in Metro, despite the fact they are illegal! Nice eh? I heard that and made a mental note. I'm buying some stuff for my garden today, and I'm definitely going to be supporting stores that practice good corporate citizenship.

It was interesting to hear Rick's recipe for getting rid of ants. Did you think he took a little too much pleasure in talking about his concoction that blows up ants?

Great story today in the Chronicle-Herald about the Motor Vehicle Inspections. Wow!! Another great expose from Jeffery Simpson. He's the reporter who did the story on restaurant cleanliness last year. 5 different garages and 5 totally different prices. So, Rick asked the question today. Was the garage with the cheapest MVI lax, or were the other garages ripping people off? I have a feeling this is going to be a big issue this week.

So, shorter show - shorter blog!!

Talk to you tomorrow!

Cheers,

Amber

This Jeffery Simpson, this Jeffery, I like this Reporter, it's like... he has 'common sense.'
This Jeffery Simpson, it's like...he's capable of understanding if he's learned of, read, listened to or saw a corrupt, unethical or illegal practice happening elsewhere in Canada & the US, he has the intelligence to understand it's happening in his own backyard and report on it. THIS, is the kind of NEWS that The People want!
This Jeffery Simpson....he's a man with a backbone, I like this Reporter, this Jeffery Simpson.
Nova Scotia needs more Reporter's like this Jeffery Simpson.
Nova Scotia needs Investigative Reporters. The Chronicle Herald and The Daily News, local ATV & Global needs to invest more monies, more Time and Monies to Investigative Reporters.
Recently, there was a news story off of the Canadian Press which I'd read early in the day which had a number of grammer errors, that evening on the NS 6 o'clock local TV News, the Anchor read the same story, with the grammer errors included.
1st thought after I finished laughing, listening to that was- it's like a trained seal, wouldn't a professional read-notice the grammer errors and correct them in what he was reading? After all it was the 6 o'clock TV News. All we get for News is what some person who reads from que-cards to a TV camera. Heck, pretty near anybody can do that. Read que cards and if needed to do an interview, have brains enough to do some research and ability to think on their feet to ask questions, in response to a previous answer from whomever they're interviewing. Gift of the gab. That's it.
Mary Ellen MacIntyre, hope I've gotten the name correct.....this
M.Macintyre, I like this M.MacIntyre, another Chronicle Herald Reporter who's done a splendid job of reporting on
Sandy & Heli Munroe.
Stephen Kimber, a Daily News Columnist, he's done a fine job reporting the suspicious circumstances surrounding Nova Scotia's Group Homes and the abuses of a young girl within that system. There's still much missing from this scandal. Stephen Kimber has another job and WRITES A Column, a Columnist, what this News needs is an INVESTIGATIVE REPORTER. NOW, there NEEDS to be an Investigative Reporter to investigate and report on the corruption, the Federal Money Transfer Dollars, a Justice System gone wrong, a Department of Community Services gone horribly wrong and a Finance Department the mafia would be proud of.
ACTUALLY, what this and the Monroe's news story's NEEDS is National Attention.
IN PARTICULAR-National Attention to Nova Scotia's Crown Prosecuter's Office and Justice System. Lord knows a National Investigative Reporter would have information overload with Nova Scotia's LONG, Documented history of CORRUPTION.
The People, The People of Nova Scotia need Investigative Reporters. Any Newspaper with the smarts to understand this, will find it a profitable venture in that they will be selling one Heck of alot more Newspapers and that means Profit. A win, win situation.
Give The Public what They WANT, Honest investigative news with the NewsPaper Co., with the most brains, first to the plate to make an honest profit by giving The Public what it really WANTS.
A LARGER piece of The Market, a Larger Reader audience and that means moe Advertising dollars. Better for The Paper, The People, better for The Bussinesses who will want to advertise in the better NewsPaper because it has the largest Reach.
