It really felt good

That's quote from Bill Casey who was very honoured to win Hotline Nova Scotian of the Year. A huge congrats to Bill and to our runners up Travis Price and David Shepard, the two students who launched the Pink Protest at Central Kings Rural High School. Both of them told Rick they want to do degrees in criminology and then become RCMP officers. I think they are great kids and I wish them the best of luck. However, I voted for Bill Casey who did the right thing, stood up for Nova Scotia and did it for us, not for himself. His motives were pure; when is the last time you said that about a politician. A big congratulations goes out Tina Chaulk (who had a very strong following on the internet) and Jim Connors. We have so many great people in this province - can't wait until next year.

I want to wish one of our listeners our condolences. Joan Murphy lost her husband on Monday after a battle with cancer. The obit is in the Chronicle-Herald today. Despite her fierce battles with Cecil, Joan is one of the sweetest ladies and she was so devoted to her husband. She is devestated and it's so sad. We care about you Joan, and we're keeping you in our thoughts.

So, it was Rick's last show of 2007 and Yvonne will be in for the next two days. It's been another crazy year, my second full year of working with Rick on the show. I don't even want to add up how many phone calls I answered this year, it would be in the thousands. The Fage issue kept us busy during the dog days of winter in January, so we can only hope there will be another juicy scandal to keep the phone lines lit up through those long winter months!

Thank you so much for all the Christmas greetings and calls today and thanks for your participating in the Hotliner of the year contest. We wouldn't have a show without the listeners, so THANK YOU SO MUCH!

Merry Christmas, and I'll chat with you tomorrow during Yvonne's show!

Cheers,

Amber

P.S. Ben, Rick is going to PEI!!!! HA! Now that he's on vacation he can't strangle me for telling you!!!!!!

Merry Xmas Amber..or is it Happy Holidays? Festive season?

To me its still and will remain Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to everybody regardless of their race, creed or color.

And to Rick....who the heck takes a vacation to PEI in the winter? the beaches are all closed..and lets face it, there isn't much more to do on the Island in the winter.

I think this thing of Christmas is far too commericlized. there is too much rushing, over spending, pressure to spend. pressure to buy gifts when you really can't afford, too much food and way too much booze flowing. families in up roars and domestic disputes over lack of money to but gifts for the kids but rather buy more booze. and all perfectly legal.

Big business brainwashing of the people. especially children. Christmas the time of the year to celebrate and be rewarded for being a good boy or girl? and then it is expected for life. we must buy, buy and buy....the crowds of consumers all out there doing the same.
No furnace oil in the tank but the children , grand children and relatives , friends, fellow workers, paper boys/girls, mail carriers and many associations expect gifts.

What happened to the celebration of Christ's birth? is that where the giving of gifts came from? the three wise men came bearing gifts. were these three bearers of gifts the start? Maybe they were from Walmart.

I guess my point is that Xmas or whatever people want to call it is far too much commericalized.

I mean really, think about it. The kid was born...we celebrated...Its like year after year after year. Move on folks but don't go into debt celebrating someone's birthday.

And way too many people do.

From the mouth of an old hippie of sorts of 1976 , John Swann, at one of those Caper Chritmas parties, as he came tumblling through the door, dressed as Santa, with a big bag of treats for everyone, and I mean treats, out of his dry mouth came the imortal words of

'HO HO FUCKING HO"

See ya.....be safe...

Amber.

Good Evening.

It is hard to believe this year is coming to an end. I have so much to say and so little time to say it.

So with that I wish you and your family a Very Merry Christmas and all the best in the New Year.

As much as in pains me to say this it is safe to say with your work this year on the Hotline Show you will be in Santa's good books.

Enjoy.
